Hey Everybody: Stop clicking those fake looking ‘video’ links in Facebook. They will just hijack your browser. If you’re lucky, all they’ll do is repost the link on your wall, and make people wonder why you clicked on a video of a girl in a very short skirt.

I live 1000 miles away; I don’t think I’ll make it to your Facebook Event..

I’m very fortunate to have friends in The Arts. Even more fortunately, these friends are actually performing, and frequently. This has left me with an abundance of Facebook invites to a wide variety of plays, art gallery openings, improv showcases and concerts, most of which I am geographically incapable of attending. This gets compounded when several friends are collaborating on a single project, and I get an invite or two from each participant.

I’m torn. I really enjoy keeping up with the artistic careers of my friends, but I really hate dealing with invites to events I could never attend. I don’t think any of my friends are intentionally trying to invite me to events they know I can’t attend. Rather, I think in their excitement for the event, they literally invite ‘everyone they know.’ It’s certainly the easiest way to get the word out. But it’s probably not the best thing for your ‘friendships.’ I think I have a solution: Facebook Friend Lists.

My Droid is Crappy

So my first generation Motorola Droid has been getting progressively worse lately. It’s almost to the point where it is not a functional phone.

The old joke is that the iPhone is a great phone, you just can’t use it as a phone. My Droid makes me wish i had an iPhone.

Leaving an application, it takes 10-45 seconds for the home screen to load. Applications fail on me, constantly. Twitter, Facebook, Gmail all will crash. The only remedy I’ve found is rebooting every few hours. I’ve removed almost all applications, I’ve done a factory reset. I just don’t know what the problem is.

Is it an over the air update gone wrong? Can I fix this with a local update? Or is this just crappy hardware? Either way, it sucks. I want to believe in the Android platform. I like iOS just fine, but I prefer my Google apps integration, the open app market (thanks, Apple, but I’m a big boy, I can look after myself in the App Market). I like the Android notification system. And I really like Verizon’s network.

I still have another year on my contract. Now that Verizon has the iPhone, I’m torn. Do I go with the iPhone (probably 5th gen, at that point) when my contract is up, and start from scratch rebuilding my habits? Finding and setting up new apps, trying to get Gmail and Google Calendar to work on an iPhone. Or do I go with the best offering from the Android platform.

I’m thinking, whatever I choose, Motorola won’t be in the picture.

Not too shabby, Beastie Boys. This is what a quarter of a century of working together will get you.

The Royals are 25th in average attendance (just under 20,000 per game), the seventh consecutive year they’ve been at least this low. But the team stunk each of those seasons, too. This isn’t a fan base failing a franchise.

It’s the other way around.
